Four Decades On

Distant whirr swoop into my mouth and sits in my ears.

It is midnight and the dark won’t stay dark, as glimmers

of thundersnow sifts the room until it wears a uniform

as I am speaking to my uncle like we are holding hands.

It is four decades and his faith in me ascend in steps.

Maybe you are made for this moment. Born for this time.

He has a calm voice, and I devolve with ease into chaos.
