mother [specimen A]

take a mother away from a

life, put an ear against it hive

to hear a loud echo

of emptiness. hold it up to

the light to see it; void, & walk

into it to see it grotesque.

now, drop a mother into a life,

see the sun creep in, see it

bright like dawn,

walk into it to see it’s

magnitude, & watch lives perch

on it for a home.

summary of a life briefly spent

for Joy

2010-2014

life is a beautiful home

on lease; we live it & vacate

it immediately the landlord comes

for his belonging.
