MEDITATE
Eyes close.
Inside my mind
is a permanent place of dawn.
A sanctuary where I come to heal
From the trauma of breathing.
There are giant iroko trees here,
With heaps of yellowing leaves
At the feet of their trunk
Where the root pierces the ground.
The silence quells my anxiety,
Reminding me to be still.
In gathering my dispersed thoughts,
I learn to start believing again.
Eyes open.
SKYFALL
the miracle of rain
is in the thunder it inspires.
a cleansing of the moment,
a promising of green.
it is in the wetting of buried seeds
to become sprout, and then shoot,
and then shade, and then seed again.
the miracle of rain is in the falling
of the skies,
and all the molecules
of tenderness that comes with it.
