After Aremu Adams Adebisi

Gravity pulls a leaping       boy

& drags him              to death

how long before             a jump

becomes a suicide      how long

before a boy             becomes a

mortician’s items       stuffed in

the belly of earth          how long

before a mother         tugs at her

wrapper                           her body

experimenting        kinetic energy

aggressively                   how long

before the finger               lifting a

morsel of amala             becomes

separated from               the body

how long     before the eyebrows

become shut forever      evoking

a melody of dirge               on lips

I lift a mug &       the wind whisks

me    the cup morphed into shards

when did I become a quill amidst

the wide hand              of the wind?
