Dual-carriage. Carrying have-nots, sweating under the weight of a banana tray.
Street-light. Lighting the path of cruel thieves smirking at their cigarettes, into dark slum.
Cross-point. A bridge jacking up our jovial spirits into a kerb-crawler. No sands.
The talking drum listens fearfully for the blend-in of a piano in the band-stand. Harmony. The Priest exhorts the natives with local English.
Helicopter. No, a mosquito drones into my pinna. Torn-net. An aero sucks more blood at night.
a canoe-man sleeps on his singlet dreaming of a new ferry.
What differentiates us? Our tails growing shorter on TV, or the brown creeks on our palms running into retrospection? Nay, what is left in us apart from our black skin?
G. S. Enang
was born in Raffia City, South-South Nigeria. Growing up in a home of saturated literary ambience would soon shape his career as a poet. Fourth out of five children, he is fondly regarded as the ‘thinking-man.’ Writing and the Art would be evident virtues due to this jocose nomenclature. A Political Scientist, Leadership Enthusiast, Afro-centrist to a fault, an alumnus of University of Uyo, Nigeria, his poetry unveils the nakedness of ‘a people’ in a world clothed with progressive change.
An award beneficiary of the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize (NSPP) 2017 (top 100 poems), G. S. Enang has since been a permanent star in the poetic firmament. So far, he has published the following poems and Anthology; When I Step the Hill; To The Pen (Anthology); Good Morning Old Zamfara and Tick-Tock In the Prison. He believes in a future lit by the Divine Sparks in every Black mind. A quiet and amusing fellow, too, G. S. Enang also triples as a tour Photographer. Facebook handle: Godswill Enang.
